Dallas

For my first trip to the US in 2014, I flew initially to Dallas. I arrived on the Saturday afternoon.  I was up early on the Sunday morning, and so went for a walk around downtown Dallas before breakfast, and then headed over to Fort Worth - about 40 miles away - to visit the Stockyards and see the longhorns being driven down the main street.  The cattle drive was not as impressive as I had hoped it would be, and so I made my way towards Fort Worth itself to find the Stock Show and Rodeo.  That was much more fun.  There was a big fair, and thousands of animals being treated to a hair cut and wash and blow dry before they were put on show, as well as the rodeo.  I cannot remember all the events at the rodeo, but there was certainly bucking bulls and broncos (both with and without a saddle), various steer wrestling and roping, and races including wagon races.  All in all, quite a good way to beat the jet lag.

Dallas itself is, in my opinion, not that inspiring - although I did manage to visit the grassy knoll of JFK fame)
