A few days in Venice
To make sure I used up my holiday, and also to have a few days away, Teresa and I planned a few days in Venice. The trip did not get off to the best of starts, with the plane having a problem on the runway meaning we were almost two hours late getting to Venice, and then a misunderstanding about the tickets we had to get from the airport to Venice itself. It turned out that while we had "bus" tickets for the duration of our trip - which in Venice itself means a water bus, the "bus" from the airport was a road bus, not the water "bus" that runs from the airport to Venice! Following?
Anyway, we eventually got to Venice late in the evening, but not too late to find our way from Rialto to St Mark's Square, and to a nice place for food.
On the Monday, it was wet (which is something I was hoping for on one day so that I could get some photos of the lights reflecting in puddles). We spent mos of the day inside in St Mark's Basilica, and then I went out with my camera in the early evening. Unfortunately, it was still raining, and so it was hard to get shots without rain on my lens - but I managed to get a few.
On the Tuesday morning, I got up early to try and get some sunrise shots. I managed to get a few in some nice light - although there was too much cloud for a shot of the sun.
We spend much of Tuesday in the Doge's Palace, and then walking around the alley ways of Venice.
On Wednesday, wee took the bus (the boat) out to Murano, which is famous for its glass, before returning the Venice in the evening to visit the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, including a trip up the bell tower to see the sun set over Venice and on our break.
